Player Registration

Players need to register with USA Rugby and pay SoCal Youth Rugby dues to be eligible to play with the club in the 2023 season. Follow the two steps below to register.

  1. Register with SoCal Youth Rugby

The SoCal Youth Rugby registration covers league and team dues for the 2023 Winter Club season. Registration must be paid in full to participate in all games and tournaments. At the start of the season, players will be allowed to practice for a short trial period without SoCal Registration.

Southern California Rugby Football Union

    1. Go to bit.ly/2023empire and create your account. Confirm your email and sign in.

    2. Scroll down to “2023 Winter Club” and click “Register a New Person”.

    3. Add player information and upload the following documentation:

      • A headshot looking straight on with a white background

      • Birth certificate or passport for age verification

      • For u10 & u12 players a picture standing on the scale (for weight verification).

    4. Complete payment to activate the registration.

  • Divisions: Players will be placed on teams depending on their age as of August 31, 2022.

    Under 8s: $125

    Under 10- 12s: $195

    Under 14 -18s: $225

    • Athletes’ CIPP registration (State registration fee)

    • City facility fees

    • Games fees

    • Season tournament fees (except the End of Season Tournament)

    • Match officials

    • Certified gameday trainers

    • Shorts

    • Team T-shirts 

    • Access to team uniform jerseys which are distributed on game day and collected after the games are played

  • Under 8 years old (U8s): No weight limits:

    Under 10 years old (U10s):  120 lbs., up to 132 lbs. with extenuating circumstances;

    Under 12 years old (U12s):  145 lbs., up to 160 lbs. with extenuating circumstances;

    Under 15 years old (U15s)(girls): 125lbs.

    Under 16 years old (U16s): No weight limits

    Under 18 years old (U18s): No weight limits

2. Register with USA Rugby

The USA Rugby and US Youth and HS registration covers the member’s required annual USA Rugby insurance. Members only need to register with USA Rugby once per calendar year to be covered for the winter, spring, and summer school and club seasons, and any camps they attend. The cost is $5 for non-contact membership (U8 Flag), and $25 for contact player membership. USA Rugby and US Youth and HS dues belong to those respective organizations and are not refundable by SoCal Youth Rugby or Empire Youth Rugby.

How to Register for USA RUGBY

  1. Go to usa.rugby/members and click the button that says, “REGISTER NOW”.

  2. Create your account (use the same email address as when registering in past seasons if possible).

  3. Log into your account and click “Register” in the left hand column, then click “Find a Club”.

  4. Select the player you are trying to register (click “Link a new person” to add a new player).

  5. Search for and select “Empire Youth Rugby” .

  6. Input the requested information and payment.
